Joe Strummer se llamaba John Mellor y habia nacido en Turquia en 1952.

Joe Strummer vivio su infancia en varios paises ya que era hijo de un diplomático.
Joe Strummer se mudó a Londres en la adolescencia para estudiar en una escuela de arte.
Joe Strummer comenzó a tocar la guitarra en una banda llamada 101´ers formada por los amigos con los que okupaba una casa en Maida Hill.
Joe Strummer a mediados del 76 recibió por parte de un tal Mick Jones el ofrecimiento de unirse su grupo. Ahi nació The Clash.
